Venue

The venue for the conference will be the University of Sheffield, Sheffield, UK. The main sessions of the conference will take place in the Auditorium, Students Union Building, University of Sheffield.

The University of Sheffield is a member of the Russell Group of UK universities, and celebrated its one hundredth anniversary in 2005. As well as enjoying access to the life of the city of Sheffield, the University is also close to the Peak District National Park, which was the first national park created in the United Kingdom. Sheffield - the Steel City - was the centre of the steel manufacture in Britain, but has successfully reinvented itself in the past years since the demise of the steel industry.

Travel

For campus and city maps, travel advice and useful links, follow this link.

Located in the centre of England, Sheffield is well served by national road and rail links, and the city has excellent local transport. The city is home to two universities: the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. The conference is taking place at the University of Sheffield, whose campus is on the western edge of the city.

International visitors arriving in the UK by air may choose to fly to Manchester or Birmingham, each of which is about one hour away from Sheffield by train, or into London (the train from central London to Sheffield takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes). There are also smaller airports at Leeds/Bradford, Liverpool, East Midlands and Sheffield/DOncaster.

Visitors arriving by train at Sheffield and wishing to get to the University may take a taxi from outside the front of the station. Alternatively, there is a convenient and cheap tram service from the back entrance of the station: take a tram with a blue square on the front and alight at the University tram stop.
